Free E-Books
All members of Staffordshire Libraries including Shenstone Library members get free access to a huge collection of ebooks via the Libro app.
You can access all the books for free via the Libro App, which is available for Android and IOS devices.

How to Access your Free Ebooks
In order to access the free Ebooks you need to download ‘Libro’ app. The app is available for both Apple and Android devices.
Downloading Libro
If you are an Apple user please visit the App Store, if you are using Android then you will need to go to Google Play Store.
Search ‘Libro’ and click ‘Get’ on your Apple device or ‘Install’ on your Android or click the links below.
Registering for an Adobe Account
Before we continue it’s worth noting that to download ebooks you need to register with Adobe.
Why do I need an Adobe Account?
Adobe is used to manage the digital rights of the books on Libro in order to prevent books being downloaded illegally. It’s nothing to be worried about and it simply means that we protect the books and the authors who write them.
How do I get an Adobe Account?
You just need an email address to register and with one account you can use it with six devices. (This can include your laptop, e-reader, tablet, ipad, smartphone etc…)
Whenever you install Libro on a new device you will be asked to authorise your device with your Adobe ID.
You can register through Libro itself (see how to register in the instructions below or alternatively you can Get an Adobe ID here www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions/ebookcreateid.htmla>
Using Libro
Once the Libro App has installed, click ‘Open’ to start the application.
You will be see a screen asking you to select your library service. You need to scroll down and select ‘Staffordshire Libraries’ and click ‘Save Library’
Once you save your Library, you are taken to the Staffordshire Library section of the Libro App which contains all the Ebooks you can download for free.
Logging In
You will need to Log In to access the Ebooks by clicking ‘Log In’ at the top right of the page.
Simply pop in your Library Card Number and Pin (If you don’t have a PIN number simply pop in and ask at the desk at the Library).
Once you have done that select ‘Remember Me’ to avoid having to put these in every time you want to get a new book and click ‘Sign In’.
Authorise/Create Your Adobe ID
At this point it’s a good idea to authorise or create your Adobe ID.
Already Got an Adobe ID?
- Click on the ‘Info’ section at the bottom right of the page.
- Click ‘Authorize’
- If you already have an Adobe ID please enter your username (which is the e-mail you registered with) and your password and click ‘Authorize’.
- You are now free to download books, let’s go and find you some! Click back to the ‘Get Books’ section
Not Got an Adobe ID?
- Click on the ‘Info’ section at the bottom right of the page.
- Click ‘Authorize’
- If you do not have an Adobe ID, click ‘Create a Free Adobe ID’
- Enter the required details and click ‘Create’
- Once you have created an account you will get a ‘SUCCESS’ screen. Once that is showing, click ‘Done Getting ID’ in the top right.
- Enter your new Adobe ID and Password and click ‘Authorize’
- You are now free to download books, let’s go and find you some! Click back to the ‘Get Books’ section
Choosing Books in Libro
Libro has thousands of books to download from all different Genres. It’s easy to search for books you can either:
- Use the search box at the top of the page
- Click Browse and select by Genre,
Once in a Genre or a list of search results, you can filter the results by Availability, Date the Titles were added and many other options such as Genre, Format, publisher etc.
Taking a Book Out of the Libro Library
Once you have found your desired book, you can take it out by simply following the steps below.
- Click on the Title of the book
- If it is available click ‘Add to Basket’
- You will be given an option to loan the book for between 1 and 21 days (21 is the maximum)
- Select your desired loan period and click ‘Checkout’ at the bottom right of the page.
- Once you click checkout, it will say ‘processing’ for a short time.
- When it has processed you will see the option to ‘Download’ and an expiry date (which is when you will no longer be able to read the book on the App)
- Click ‘Download’ and your book will begin downloading.
- You will then be notified that the Download is complete and you can either choose to Find More books or Read your book Now.
- If you click ‘Read Now’, your book will open and you can start reading.
- If you choose to look for more books you will be taken back to the ‘Get Books’ section. You can find your downloaded books when you want to read them by clicking on ‘Bookshelf’.
If the book you would like to take out of the Libro library is currently On Loan, you can reserve the book by clicking on it and clicking ‘reserve’. Once it becomes available you will be notified and you can follow the instructions above to add it to your library.
